*Not a Green Tom Blog is a new series in which our writer gives us his opinion about the cult classic TV show called The Tom Green Show in various aspects*
Last month was a 20th anniversary of The Tom Green Show and I expected something special to be happened. But guess what? Nothing happened! I also tweeted above picture to Tom, but he didn’t reply or said anything about the anniversary as far as I know. Anyway, I’m here to celebrate the 20th anniversary by showing 10 favorite bits from the show. Let’s check them out!
Rogers 22/Comedy Channel era
1) Slutmobile
THIS is probably the most famous bit of the show during an entire run. It becomes an instant classic because he’s the very first ones (eat your heart out, Bam!) to do a prank on parents. Actually, Tom did several pranks on his parents several times during Rogers era (like painting his house without parents acknowledgement or waking them in the night…claiming that he wants to watch Bon Jovi VHS)…but this is the most famous one due to its outrageous style and his parents reaction.
2) None of Your Business (or “Where Are You Going?” when it was aired on MTV)
A legendary bit which proves us that The Tom Green Show is NOT a generic candid comedy show. They shot footage in front of the victim and have no idea about the result. This time, Tom interviews and old man about “Where are you going?”. Unfortunately (or not?), it slowly turns into a hilarious argument and then a fight.
3) Tiger Zebra
Tom later says in an interview somewhere that some of his sketches on the show has its own social critical message. I think this is one of them. This time Tom and Derek Harvie (one of the show’s co-writers and Tom’s friend) sneak into a gallery and secretly put their own paint called Tiger Zebra on the wall. And if you think that’s the whole joke, wait until you see tourist’s reaction when they see Tom tries to draw something on this picture!
4) The Mustard Inspector
If I remember correctly, this is the bit from Rogers era. The joke might be too childish for some people, but I think this sketch sets the tone for the show really well: Let’s go out and have non-sensical style of fun.
5) Moose Humping (a.k.a. “Bullwinkle Last Stand” when it was aired on MTV)
Another famous bit from Comedy Channel era. ‘Nuff said.
MTV era
6) The Bum Bum Song
This song is not only kickstarted the popularity of the show the a whole new level, it’s also the very first songs that you could download as MP3 file on the website. WARNING: This song will stuck in your head for, at least, two days!
7) Undercutters Pizza
One of my all-time favorite bits of the show. This is another prove that TGS is way way different than other candid camera shows due to the fact that our host and crew have no idea what’s going to happen in the end.
8) Out of Control Wheelchair
It’s a sequel to the famous “Guy falling from a crutch” bit from Comedy Channel era.
9) Fun With Carnival Games
Besides that old guy bit from Comedy Channel era, this is the only time when Tom get hurt during the filming of the episode.
10) Bingo Was His Name-O
If you don’t have enough time to watch 9 clips above, just watch this clip alone. It sums up everything.

Well, happy 20th anniversary to The Tom Green Show, one of the funniest TV shows of all time (Well, at least to me). As I said, I lost my hope about waiting for MTV’s DVD of this show or trying to find FULL episodes on YouTube. But hey, at least we can enjoy these bits while waiting for someone to upload stuffs on torrent or video sharing sites when you’re depressed or want something to laugh…and not a fuckin’ cat video.
