Finally, after I reviewed “so-bad-it’s-good” movies here for a while, I have to write something about painful experiment by watching almost 90 minutes of the bad TV commercial called “Mac And Me”.
I said it’s so-bad-it’s-bad because…
– the alien design is horrendous! To be honest, it looks like the stereotypical devil in my imagination. I think I’m lucky enough to watch E.T. when I was a kid instead of this.
– Bad product placement. It’s literally “in your face” type of commercial that appeared in this flick. How could you forget the most infamous scene that kids and adolescents are dancing in the McDonald’s for no apparent reason? Or if you’ve seen trailer, why on earth that Ronald Mcdonald has to be appeared in?
– Disturbing scenes. It disturbs me more than Howard The Duck because, in the early scenes, the alien is just like an asshole that ruins (and almost kills) Eric’s family. He’s as scary as Jason Voorhees! And, by the way, the scene that Eric falls down from the clip and then the alien’s face expression just like “Gee, I wonder what happened there. I ruined this kid’s family for the 1/4 of this flick. Should I save him?”. It makes me uncomfortable every time I watch that scene, except when the scene is included in Conan O’ Brien show.
Anyway, things that make me chuckles are break-dancing at McDonald’s and, in one scene, there’s a “music video” from “try-to-be-like-Chicago” band or something like that. That section shows Eric and his mom running down the hill and interspersed with an alien that struck on a tree while escaping from the dogs. What a heart-touching!

BTW, this one is kinda painful to watch compared to others I’ve reviewed.
To sum up this film, scary alien meets scariest mascot of all time, Ronald McDonald.
